Scouts Hut, Peacehaven, East Sussex

Brighton Planning were asked by a local architect to help gain planning consent for a new Scouts Hut in Peacehaven. The existing building comprises a 1960s concrete hut which is poorly insulated and has inadequate wheelchair access. Central to the scheme was to make an energy efficient building that would cut energy costs, while also providing enough storage and activity space. The proposed scheme will see solar panels to the roof, and an air source heat pump for maximum efficiency. The car park has been designed to comprise a separate non-stepped access point for visitors.

The application was submitted in March and has been well received by local residents and by the local Town Council who have provided representation in support of the scheme.
