PROJECT: 3-STOREY ART DECO BLOCK OF FLATS, MARINE DRIVE, BRIGHTON

The three-storey art deco block of flats is located on the east side of Brighton, East Sussex and is in a prominent location. The occupants of the flats wanted to refurbish the building and in order to fund the project, they sold the roof space to a local developer.

Brighton Planning were contracted to help put together a planning application for the creation of three large penthouse apartments and lift shaft to form an additional storey to the property.

The contract involved working closely with the architects and developers to gain planning permission for a scheme that would be allow a contemporary designed fourth floor, which would respect the art deco features of the existing building and fit in with the wider street scene.

Since gaining planning consent for the development, Brighton Planning have been contracted by the developers to discharge the associated planning conditions and submit a planning application for four penthouse apartments to an adjacent block of flats, who are also seeking to refurbish their entire building.
