In 2021, Brighton Planning worked with Portway Homes Ltd. to help gain planning consent for 9 three-storey dwellinghouses, after the project raised some concerns with the planning department who said the proposal didn’t fully meet the “Secured by Design” codes. Brighton Planning liaised with Sussex Police to take on board their recommendations, prepared a consultation response statement to set out how a slightly amended design overcame concerns and attended planning committee to reassure local councillors of the scheme. Approval was granted within the next four weeks.

Following planning consent, the site was subsequently sold to Oakleaf Property Ltd. Brighton Planning submitted applications on behalf of Oakleaf Property Ltd. to discharge conditions including the preparation of a Construction Management Plan. Brighton Planning have recently been told that the first two properties of this scheme have been sold and Oakleaf Property Ltd. will continue to work with Brighton Planning on further schemes to be submitted this year (2024).
